When my daughter was 9, she became obsessed with getting a puppy. Eventually, I gave in and we rescued a chocolate lab named Chip for Christmas. Two years later, a friend found a black lab mix running down the road in the middle of a tropical storm. We searched for her owner for weeks, but before long Roxy became a beloved member of our family also. Chip and Roxy were the best of friends and we couldn’t imagine our family without them. Fifteen years later, neither of them are with us anymore but we are definitely a dog family now. We’ve since added Sophia, a very feisty little Chihuahua and Charlie, another black lab mix who loves to play with lemons (if that tells you anything).

Throughout the years of having dogs, I constantly struggled with finding the right beds for them. Because dog beds are typically large and awkwardly shaped, I found that most were difficult to clean because they just didn’t fit well in the washing machine. I would usually just get frustrated and end up replacing them every few months just to repeat the cycle over and over. Eventually I discovered if I just layered blankets, the pups loved it just as much and I could easily clean them in the washer. The only problem was the pups burrowed and there was always a heaping mess of blankets on the floor so to solve this problem, I decided to add a zipper which prevented the blanket from unfolding and the Happy Nap Bed had evolved into a REAL thing!

I spent over a year reconnecting with my sewing machine, consulting with designers, seamstresses, everyone and everything in between to perfect the Happy Nap Bed determined to make it as simple, practical, attractive and most importantly, as comfy as possible.

Sophia & Charlie are happy nappers now and I am a happy dog momma! We look forward to sharing the Happy Nap Bed with other pups and their parents!
